Flying vs. Driving

Trying to figure out if you should fly or drive to the event? It is between 4.5 to 7.5 hours minimum travel time plus flight time to get to camp via flying:

    • 1/2 to 1 Hour travel to the airport on average.
    • 1.5 hours pre-flight for domestic and 2 hours for international flights
    • 1 to 2 hour(s) minimum time in Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) (Travel from gate to baggage claim to the meeting location, then waiting for Mosaic Shuttle to arrive)
    • 1.5 hours of travel time for the Mosaic Shuttle between Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) and camp without traffic. Add a little for the traffic.

To Main Event Only:

  1. Mosaic  Shuttle: Take the Mosaic Shuttle on Thursday, August 28, 2025, to camp. Click HERE for details.
  2. Train: Take AirTran in the terminals to NJ Transit. Then NJ Transit Northeast Corridor Line to Secaucus. Switch to the Port Jervis Line, then travel to the end of the line at Port Jervis, and then a taxi to camp. Click HERE for more details
  3. Bus: Take a bus from the Airport to Port Authority Bus Terminal in Manhattan. Then take a bus to Milford, PA. Then take a taxi to camp. Click HERE for more details.

NO MOSAIC TRANSPORT TO/FROM STEWART AIRPORT

  • Allegiant: Nonstop to Myrtle Beach, Orlando, Tampa
  • Breeze: Charleston, Ft. Myers, Orlando, Vero Beach
  • Play: Reykjavik, Iceland, with connections to Europe

Options to camp once at Stewart International Airport:

  • Take a taxi to Salisbury Mills-Cornwall, then travel via NJ Transit/Metro-North Railroad to Port Jervis, then a taxi to camp.

MOSAIC SHUTTLE

COST: $TBD Round Trip / $TBD One-Way

ARRIVALS

Plan on taking the Mosaic Shuttle from Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) to the main event? Please arrive BEFORE 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 28th to allow enough time to pick up your luggage and meet the group to load the Mosaic Shuttle for a 2:32 p.m. sharp departure from the airport. Total drive time 1.5 to 2 hours pending traffic. 

DEPARTURES

The Mosaic Shuttle to the airport will leave camp at 9:32 a.m. Please book your flights AFTER 1:30 pm for domestic flights and AFTER 2:30 pm for international flights on Monday, September 1st from Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR).

  • 1.5 Hours = Distance from camp to airport without traffic
  • 1 Hour = Buffer for holiday traffic and other issues
  • 2 Hours = Pre-Flight for Domestic or 3 Hour Pre-flight for International

TORONTO 12-PASSENGER VAN SHUTTLE

Cost $TBD US

  • We are looking for a driver(s) who will volunteer to drive the van. Their transportation will be free. Please contact us if you are willing. 
  • Travel about seven to eight hours from Toronto directly to camp on Thursday, August 29th.
  • Vans will leave camp around early on Monday, September 1st, and return to Toronto late that evening.
  • The vans may stop at a place of interest (TBD) on the way home. Let us know if you have a stop in mind.
  • Limit of eight people per van to allow for luggage.
  • Luggage will be limited to one large bag and one small personal bag per person.
  • A Bedding Rental Package will be included in the price of the Van to help conserve luggage space. You are welcome to buy a Towel Purchase Package if you want to save additional space in your luggage.
  • Border Crossing: Only those with a valid Canadian passport will be permitted to sign up for the van. Anyone stopped at the border will be left behind and will need to make arrangements from that point forward. Mosaic will not be responsible for anyone in this situation. PUBLIC TRANSIT OPTIONS FROM NJ & NYC:

Bus:

Bus from Manhattan's Port Authority, NYC to Milford, PA:

Between 3:30 pm and 7:00 pm there are four buses that take approximately 75-minutes from NYC Port Authority to Milford for approximately $26 ~ $35(One-Way). Once in Milford, take a taxi ride to camp for another approx. $25 + tip. Total cost around approx. $50 and 2 ½ - 3 hours (Pending taxi wait time and traffic along the way).

Train

Train from Penn Station, NYC or or Penn Station, Newark or Secaucus, NJ to Port Jervis, NY:

Between 3:47 pm and 7:43 pm eight trains leave NYC Penn Station to Port Jervis. The 80 min train ride will cost approximately $24. Then take an approximately 20 minute /approx.$25 + tip Taxi ride to camp. A total of around approx. $50 and 2 ½ - 3 Hours (Pending taxi wait time and transfers).

Note that you will take a train from NYC Penn Station or Newark Penn Station to Secaucus and then transfer to a train towards Suffern, NY. There may or may not be another transfer at Suffern, NY to get to Port Jervis pending which train you to catch.

Note: NJ Transit and NYC Metro-North Railroad offer conflicting info for the Port Jervis Line. Please read both sites carefully.

Train from Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) to/from Port Jervis, NY:

  1. From the upper levels of your terminal locate the AirTrain and take AirTrain to the NJTransit station.
  2. Go northbound on the Northeast Corridor train line about 20 minutes towards Newark/New York to Secaucus Junction (one stop after Penn Station, Newark, NJ). There is a train approximately every 15 to 30 minutes on the Northeast Corridor.
  3. At Secaucus Junction switch to the Port Jervis Train Line. Follow directions above to take get to Port Jervis.

Once in Milford, PA or Port Jervis, NY call a taxi. Below are some options. Estimate cost around $25 + tip:

AUTOMOBILE

Arrivals by Auto

If you are driving to camp in your own car or rented car, you will not need to pay for any shuttles. Check-in at camp opens at 3:00 p.m on Thursday, August 29th, 2025. Please be kind to the organizers and do not arrive beforehand (we will turn you away at the door if you do). Keep in mind that there may be heavy traffic on Thursday afternoon. If you arrive between 6:30 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. go directly to the dining hall and leave your stuff in the car for later. You will be able to drive your car to your cabin to off-load your things if you arrive before dinner on Thursday, August 29th. After 6:30 p.m. the camp will close the roads, and you will be forced to park in the parking lots (which may not not be near your cabin). Any car that is on campgrounds and not in designated parking lot after 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 29th will be subject to being towed.

Please let us know if you would you be willing to pick up people at the airports, bus or train station. Mileage/gasoline reimbursement is available.

Departures by Auto

Please plan on leaving camp AFTER 9:30 am on Monday, September 2nd to allow the vans and buses to load and depart safely. Everyone must be out of camp by 11:30 am.

Ride Shares

Mosaic Outdoor Clubs of America wants to make every effort to cut down the amount of automobile emissions traveling to and from the event. Mosaic will help you find a ride share. Exact method TBD.  Ride Share arrangements are your responsibility. Please reach out and contact anyone on the list that might be a good fit for you.
